Gilbert J. Sloan

Dr. Sloan was the pioneer in the preparation of conjugated aromatic compounds in a purity of  parts per billion.  This purification and crystallization resulted in  remarkable improvements in the electronic properties of these compounds and made possible for the first time the testing of theories of conductivity  in organic molecular solids. He is the  author with Andrew R. McGhie of the book, “Techniques of Melt Crystallization.” Dr. Sloan is presently collaborating with us on an experiment to study exciton fission.
