Dr.
Albert Rose (1910-1990)
Dr. Rose spent his scientific career at the RCA
Research Laboratory in Princeton, N.J.
He invented the Image Orthicon,
which for the first half of the 20th century was the
principal camera tube for television broadcasts throughout the world.
He received numerous
awards for his seminal contributions to the theory of photoconductivity,
and to a theory of visual sensitivity, and was a member of the National
Academy of Engineering. Dr.
Rose presented the keynote address at the 1988 International Symposium
in honor of Professor Martin Pope
