Renyuan Qian

Professor Renyuan Qian (deceased 2006)

          Prof. Qian was the Director of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academia Sinica in Beijing, whose research was in polymer chemistry. He invited me to give a three-week intensive graduate course on the subject “Electronic Processes in Organic Crystals.” Fifty chemists and physicists from all over China assembled in Beijing to take this course.  The material covered in  that course was ultimately translated into Chinese and published there.  Ten years later, he invited me to Beijing again to present a refresher course on the same subject, followed by lectures in several other cities.
