Amador Cobas

Amador Cobas (1910-1988)

          Prof. Cobas was Chairman of the Physics Department of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) in the 1960’s  and President of UPR from 1971-1973.  He was also the Associate Director of the Puerto Rico Nuclear Center in the 1960’s. Prof. Cobas played a major role in bringing accomplished scientists into the Physics faculty  at the UPR  At the invitation of Professor Cobas, I spent my sabbatical year as a visiting scientist at the UPR.  Prior to that, I was instrumental in starting a program at the UPR devoted to the study of electronic processes in conjugated materials.  I  lectured frequently, interacted with the scientists there, and started writing “Electronic Processes  in Organic Crystals.”
